The 2017 edition of the Champions Trophy is all set to get underway. Over the years, the tournament has been the second most coveted global cricket tournament in the ODI format after the ICC World Cup. The first ever edition of the tournament was played in the year 1998 under the name of the ICC Knock Out tournament. It was in the year 2002 when the tournament was renamed as the ICC Champions Trophy.
The 1998 tournament was won by the South African team. Since then, there have been 7 editions been played. Team India are the proud winners of the tournament on two occasions. They are the defending champions at the moment. India beat England in the finals of the tournament in the year 2013 under the leadership of MS Dhoni. Coming to the 2017 edition, the top 8 teams will lock horns in the tournament scheduled to be played in England.

Pool A: England, Bangladesh, Australia, New Zealand.
Pool B: Sri Lanka, South Africa, India, Pakistan.
Venues
The tournament will have a total of 15 matches spread across three venues in England. The three venues for the tournament are Birmingham, London, and Cardiff. The finals will be played on June 18 at the Kennington Oval, London. June 1 has been kept as the reserve day for the tournament final.
