The Champions Trophy final has now become even more interesting. It is for the first time since 2007 that India and Pakistan are in the final of an ICC event. It is one of the most-watched events in the history of cricket as there is a lot at stake for both the teams.
That said, the tickets for this game were also battled upon by the fans. However, the BCCI has booked themselves a 24 seater corporate box for the game. They have done that for all the Champions Trophy games this year. There were many invitees as well, some high profile VIP’s attended the game against South Africa.
Robert Vadra was one of the invitees as he was sitting in the BCCI’s box with the officials for the game. Robert is the son-in-law of the Congress head Sonia Gandhi. He is one of the controversial figures in the Indian politics. The Indian Express tried contacting BCCI CEO Rahul Johri over this but he was unavailable. Apart from the corporate box, BCCI has 20 more tickets allotted to them by the International Cricket Council.
N Srinivasan – the mastermind
N Srinivasan was the man who came up with the idea of having the best view for the officials at all the games. This was first done for the WT20 of 2016 when BCCI had a corporate box for them at every Indian game.
The officials that have travelled to England are the CEO Rahul Johri, Secretary Amitabh Choudhary, Stand In President C K Khanna, IPL chief Rajiv Shukla and three more officials. A BCCI official was reported as saying by IE.
He said, “Former president N Srinivasan came up with the idea of the BCCI having its own box at the World Cup and Champions Trophy. The aim was to provide the best seats for BCCI members and those helping the Indian board.”
