Just today Cricket Australia (CA) confirmed that the pay dispute with the Australian Cricketers’ Association (ACA) was dissolved as both parties arrived at a settlement. They also confirmed that the team will participate in the future tours that are scheduled here on. The first assignment for the Aussies now is the 2-match Test series in Bangladesh and ahead of it, the coach Chandika Hathurusingha has his hopes sky high.
Hathurusingha is not just talking about registering their first ever win in a Test match against the Aussies but wants to clean sweep the series two for nil. Very recently Bangladesh had defeated Sri Lanka in their backyard in a Test for the very first time and that has given the team a lot of confidence having already done better at home.
Clean sweep
“In Test cricket, we are now advanced a bit. At least we have good plans to implement in the subcontinent condition. We want to win both Test matches against Australia. I believe, at home, we are a very good fighting team in Test,” Hathurusingha was quoted by bdcrictime.
Australia’s tour of Bangladesh gets underway on 27th August at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Dhaka and the following game will be hosted at Chittagong starting September 4.
After CA and ACA signed a new MoU BCB media committee chairman, Jalal Younus told reporters, “We are very delighted to welcome them. It is a big series for us because we don’t get the chance to play lot of Test matches and more so in our own backyard. So playing these two Test matches is definitely huge for our cricket,” he said.
“They did not arrive here earlier on two occasions but now as they are coming, it is definitely big thing for us,” Jalal added. “Though they did not say anything officially, they did not for once give us any negative impression. So we always remained confident about hosting the series.”
