Chris Gayle seems to have taken a u-turn over his decision of not playing in the upcoming season of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). While interacting with the journalists after his stint in the Mzansi Super League came to an end, the West Indies star had said that he would not play cricket for the remainder of 2019.

Consequently, he made himself unavailable for the upcoming series in India as well as the BPL and the Big Bash League. And he also revealed he had no idea how his name reached the draft of the BPL. “I don’t even know how my name reached the BPL,” he had said. Unsurprisingly, his comments did not go down well with Chattogram Challengers who urged the Bangladesh Cricket Board to take action against him if he does not play the tournament.

Later, BCB had also clarified that they checked the drafting process and found no fault with Gayle’s inclusion. And it looks like Gayle has finally decided to play for the Challengers in the upcoming edition. The Chattogram-based outfit, on Monday, announced that  Gayle will participate in the tournament, starting on December 11.

Chris Gayle reportedly unhappy with remuneration:

According to Cricbuzz, Gayle was not pleased with the remuneration offered to him by the Challengers. The team had secured the services of the most decorated batsman in the history of T20s  in the draft for USD 100000. But both the parties seemed to have reached an agreement now as Gayle looks to weave his magic in Bangladesh once again.

”We are happy to announce that Gayle will play for us and there is no uncertainty about his participation in the tournament,” Challengers’ Managing Director KM Rifatuzzaman was quoted as saying by the news outlet.

”He is having a hamstring problem, so we will not get him from the beginning, but we are hopeful to have him at some point in the tournament. We have finalised everything with Gayle’s agent. Some formalities are not done yet, but all those things will be completed soon,” he added.

The official also said that the former West Indies skipper is likely to ply his trade for the Challengers after January 4. Well, if Gayle does make himself available soon after January 4, he could play the final leg of the tournament.
