India’s former cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has grabbed the attention of the netizens with his latest Instagram post. He took it to his official handle to share a picture with his former teammates. India’s batting legend is seen having some gala time alongside his 1983 World Cup teammates Kapil Dev and Mohinder Amarnath in the picture.

Gavaskar’s post fetched in a lot of likes and comments as his fans and followers got all nostalgic. They praised the trio who have made significant contributions to the growth of Indian cricket. Three of them seem to be enjoying each other’s company as they are seen all smiling in the picture shared by Gavaskar.

The former cricketer also added a fitting caption to the post. “Cheers to ‘83 🏆,” he wrote in the caption of the post.

Under Kapil Dev, India won their first-ever World Cup in 1983. The skipper led the team from the front as he finished as the highest run-getter of the team. Dev chipped in 303 runs from eight games in the mega event to exude his flair. He was impressive with the ball as well wherein he scalped 12 wickets in that edition of the World Cup.

Mohinder Amarnath was also one of those who made crucial contributions with the willow. He gathered 237 runs from eight matches in the multination tournament. It was a tough task in hand for the Indian cricket team which entered the contest as underdogs.

In the summit clash of the marquee event, team India faced the defending champions West Indies at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. After having put to bat first, the Kapil Dev-led side managed to post the target of 183 for the opposition. The team then exuded their sheer flair by dominating the proceedings in the important game.

India chimed in with an impressive bowling performance to restrict the West Indies at just 140. By doing so, the team was crowned as the World Champions and that moment and achievement are still fresh in the memories of the ardent cricket on-lookers. Also, the Ranveer Singh starrer movie ’83 which portrays the team’s journey to the 1983 World Cup win is all set to hit the theaters on December 23 for which the fans are already excited.
