Cheteshwar Pujara comes up with a lively post, fans continue to troll him for not walking off
Even the crowds at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium chanted 'Cheater, Cheater' when Pujara walked in to bat in the second innings.
Veteran Indian cricketer Cheteshwar Pujara is indeed a stalwart of the modern day cricket. The middle-order batsman, who is the batting mainstay of the Indian middle-order in Test cricket, recently led his domestic side to a spectacular semi-final win. Pujara’s unbeaten 131 helped Saurashtra beat the heavy-weights Karnataka in the semi-final encounter of Ranji Trophy 2018-19.
Pujara was absolutely pleased with his own efforts, and had posted a lovely picture on his social media handle to show the positive vibes he is oozing at the moment. However, little did he know, that the fans would still not be over the fact that he refused to walk off despite having edged the ball during the match.
For the ones who are unaware of what has been perspiring, here is brief recap. During the first innings of the match, Cheteshwar Pujara edged one delivery that was pocketed by the Karnataka keeper. The Karnataka players were up and running in their celebrations, but the umpire ruled it not out. Absolutely miffed with the decision, the senior players of the side were seen fuming. Things only got worse when something similar happened in the second innings.
Again, Pujara edged one off the bowling of Vinay Kumar, the keeper caught it, but the umpire ruled it not out. Players were aggravated with the umpiring blunders. In both innings, Pujara stayed on and went on to score 45 and 131* respectively. Even the crowds at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium chanted ‘Cheater, Cheater’ when Pujara walked in to bat in the second innings.
Now, the fans who have always been comparing Pujara with legendary former cricketer Rahul Dravid, felt a little let down by the fact that Pujara did not walk off. Had Dravid been in his place, he would have walked off, claimed the fans.
Well, the fans should know that this is a part and parcel of the game. It is only demeaning for the fans of Rahul Dravid and Cheteshwar Pujara to be trying to pull down one another by digging up instances from the past.
