Cheteshwar Pujara contributes an undisclosed amount to PM CARES and Gujarat CM Relief Funds
Pujara has joined a long list of Indian cricketers to have come forward to help the nation.
The novel Coronavirus has spread widely and there hasn’t been anything going good across the world due to the global pandemic. More than 13 lakh people have been affected by this lethal virus. In fact, 75,000 people have lost their lives across the globe. India has witnessed more than 4500 cases so far and the count is only increasing with every passing day.
Due to this global pandemic, the entire world has come to a standstill. India is going through a 21-day lockdown and relief funds have been set up by various organisations to support the poor and the needy in this time. Indian cricketer Cheteshwar Pujara became the recent renowned celebrity to contribute an undisclosed amount to the PM CARES and the Gujarat CM Relief Fund.
The Indian batting sensation had some kinds words for the medical professionals, policemen and other workline workers. Pujara thanked them and everyone else who are fighting for the countrymen and humanity during these tough times. The Saurashtra cricketer, along with his family, has contributed to the Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations (PM-CARES) Fund and the Gujarat Chief Minister’s relief fund as well.
Cheteshwar Pujara is a local of the Rajkot city in Gujarat. The tweet didn’t clarify how much exactly Pujara has contributed. “My family and I have contributed our bit to the PM CARES fund and Gujarat CM Relief Fund, and hope you will too. We are thankful to all medical professionals, police men and women and all others who are out there working hard for our country and humanity, his statement in the tweet read.
Cricketing fraternity has come forward to help
As the tension rises across the country, several stars have come up and contributed to the noble cause. Former Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar was one of the first ones to have contributed to the PM-CARES fund. After this, Suresh Raina, Harbhajan Singh, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Yuvraj Singh, Ishant Sharma and many other cricketers contributed to the relief fund set up by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. Women cricketers such as Poonam Yadav and Mithali Raj have also shared some of their wealth for this cause.
