India’s reliable middle order batsman Cheteshwar Pujara is currently going great guns, as he scored two centuries in as many consecutive games. Pujara credited Rahul Dravid for his strong comeback into the Indian side. The 25-year old ‘Test specialist’ has kept his focus on the longer format and has developed over the years. He has been India’s rock solid batsman who seldom gives away his wicket at any circumstance.
Pujara has scored 153 in the first Test match at Galle and followed it with a 133 in the 2nd Test match. India have already won the Test series 2-0, and this Saurashtra boy has been the chief architect for the visitors. In 50 Test matches, Pujara has scored 4099 runs at an average of 53.23, along with 13 hundreds and 15 fifties.
I would like to thank Dravid
Pujara said while talking to Harsha Bhogle in an exclusive interview for Cricbuzz, “When I was dropped from the Indian team for the Australian Test series, I think it was the last match of the series, but then I told myself that the best thing is to make a comeback, work harder on your game and I would like to thank Rahul Dravid because, after the Australia series, I was part of the India A side”.
Pujara further added “Rahul bhai was the coach at that time and I went up and spoke to him about my game. He told me that there is nothing wrong with your game and technique because he kept a close eye on me in the nets, he told me that you just need to stay calm, just keep working harder on your game, keep doing what you have been doing and you will get your opportunity and I trusted him, initially it was tough as I didn’t know when I will get my opportunity but it did come. If there is something wrong with my technique he will try to guide me”.
However, Cheteshwar Pujara failed to make it big in the ongoing 3rd Test against Sri Lanka as he managed to add 8 runs on the board. He will aim to come all guns blazing in the 2nd innings.
