Cheteshwar Pujara reveals he has blood clot on his shoulder after getting hit 11 times in Brisbane Test
In four Tests, Pujara scored 271 runs at an average and strike-rate of 33.87 and 29.20.
Cheteshwar Pujara, the Indian batsman, has admitted that facing the Australian bowlers was a tough task during the recent Border Gavaskar Trophy. Pujara stated that Tim Paine and Co did their homework with precision and bowled with a plan. The middle-order batsman stated that patience is something paramount in order to distract the Aussies of their plans and strategies.
In the series, Pujara came under fire for his strike-rate and was also alleged for putting pressure on the others. Even on the field, Pujara had to bear the brunt of the Australian bowlers after he copped 11 blows on his body. But despite the difficulties, he stood tall and carried his team through.
You have all the protection when you are wearing the helmet: Cheteshwar Pujara
Pujara, after the tour, has revealed that he had gotten a blood clot on the shoulder, but he has made a speedy recovery. “There is a little bit of blood clot on the shoulder but it’s all settled, now. I have recovered well,” Pujara was quoted as saying to NDTV.
“You have all the protection when you are wearing the helmet. But the one I got hit on the finger was really painful. That was the toughest blow. I thought my finger was broken. I was first hit on my finger during the net session in Melbourne. I carried the niggle to Sydney. But when I was hit on the same finger in Brisbane, it was unbearable,” he stated.
“Credit goes to Australian bowlers. They study your batting, they assess a lot of videos and then they come up with a plan. To break that, you need a lot of patience, you need to figure out things to break such a game plan,” Pujara added.
In four Tests, Pujara was the second-highest run-scorer for the visiting team after Rishabh Pant. He scored 271 runs at an average and strike-rate of 33.87 and 29.20 respectively. He also had three half-centuries to his name with a top score of 77.
Pujara’s job hasn’t finished as he is set to take part in the home Tests against England, starting February 5 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
