'Chinese logo ne ye kya kar diya yaar' - Rohit Sharma missing IPL amid Coronavirus-forced lockdown
Harbhajan Singh and Rohit Sharma went live on Instagram on Thursday.
According to the schedule, the Mumbai Indians (MI) would’ve faced the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Chepauk on Friday. The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 season would’ve been in its fourth week. But the Coronavirus outbreak disrupted everything and the T20 exrtravaganza, along with other cricketing series and events, stands suspended until further notice.
Like fans, even India’s limited-overs vice-captain Rohit Sharma is missing playing in the IPL and is currently at his home in Mumbai spending time with the family. However, he is still making sure, he stays in touch with the other players and went live on Instagram on Thursday with Harbhajan Singh. The duo spoke about a lot of things including the ongoing pandemic and how the IPL would’ve been in full flow now.
As far as the COVID-19 is concerned, it is believed to have been started spreading from Wuhan and has wrecked havoc across the world. So far, more than 1.8 lakh people have lost their lives even as in excess of 2.5 million cases are registered. While various speculations are being made over its outbreak, many are blaming China for spreading it.
Rohit Sharma, during his interaction with Bhajji, also took an indirect dig on China. While stating that he is missing playing in the IPL, the MI skipper said, “Chinese logo ne ye kya kar diya yaar.” (What did this Chinese people do man?) Even Harbhajan Singh started laughing then and said, “Ghar mein bitha diya.” (They made us sit at home).
Rohit Sharma and Harbhajan Singh’s contribution to India’s fight
If India is concerned, the number of positive cases in the country have gone past 21000. India is under lockdown since March 24 which will end on May 3. Though there is no idea if the normalcy will resume soon after that as the transport restrictions are likely to stay.
To help the country fight against the pandemic, the Indian cricketing fraternity has come forward as well. And Rohit Sharma and Harbhajan are not behind in it either. While the former donated Rs 80 lakh to different causes, the CSK spinner has taken care of the poor families in Jalandhar during this period.
