Chittagong Vikings secure services of Nurul Abedin as the head coach for BPL 5
Nobel had played for the Bangladesh national cricket team from 1986 to 1990.
The fifth edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is set to kick off on November 5, and the fans are waiting with bated breath for the tournament. With the season just around the corner, all the franchises have started to shape up their squads adding the required arsenal in their bid to claim the coveted the title to their kitty. The franchises are busy building their teams, and some of them have ensured the service of coaches too.
In a recent development, the Chittagong Vikings franchise has appointed former Bangladeshi cricketer Nurul Abedin as head coach for the upcoming season of BPL. Popularly known as Nobel, he is the elder brother of Minhajul Abedin Nannu and a local boy of Chittagong.
Coached Bangladesh A team
Nobel had played for the Bangladesh national cricket team from 1986 to 1990. The right-hander donned the national outfit in four international cricket matches and had opened in the innings for the Tigers in their first official ODI against Pakistan in 1986 held at Moratuwa.
One of his most memorable knocks came in the ICC Trophy 1990-91 when he smacked a century against Canada and 85 against Denmark. He was also the assistant coach of Bangladesh A cricket team previously.
Vikings will be without Tamim Iqbal for BPL 5
The last time around, Chittagong Vikings boasted the presence of Tamim Iqbal in the batting line-up but with the left-hander taking his leave for the upcoming edition, Soumya Sarkar has filled the void. Iqbal has now joined forces with Comilla Victorians for BPL 5.
Come Saturday, the players’ draft for the upcoming season of BPL is going to be held in Hotel Radisson, Dhaka. In this players’ draft, each franchise will be required to sign at least seven local and two foreign players for their team.
