Former West Indies cricketer Brian Lara was admitted in Mumbai hospital on Tuesday after he complained of chest pain. He is in India currently as a part of an expert panel to cover the ongoing World Cup for the official broadcaster Star Sports. The legendary cricketer was at an event in a hotel when he experienced discomfort and was soon taken to the hospital. After knowing of the same, Chris Gayle has also wished his country mate a speedy recovery.
The reports suggested that the former cricketer suffered a minor heart scare but is out of danger now. Dr Praveen Kulkarni at the Global Hospital attended Brian Lara and he was taken for angiography. However, the reports came out normal much to the relief of everyone. Also, after the reports came out, it was deemed that the angioplasty isn’t needed.
When asked if he and the Windies team knows about Lara’s health, Chris Gayle admitted that he doesn’t know what happened with the legend but wished him a speedy recovery. He also hoped to see Lara back on the park doing his analysis on the game.
“Yeah we wish him well. Even though I don’t know what the story is actually, what transpired with Brian. But you know I wish him well. Hopefully, he gets a speedy recovery and gets him back on the park as soon as possible,” Gayle said while speaking to the reporters.
Lara discharged from hospital
Brian Lara, however, has been discharged from the hospital now and is fit and fine. “He (Lara) has been discharged at 12:20 from the hospital. The 50-year-old himself came out with a message late on Tuesday informing that he had extended a little bit during the gym session which led to the chest pain. He also reiterated that he is absolutely fine now.
“I may have just extended myself in the gym this morning. I was getting a pain in my chest and I just thought that it was best to see a doctor. Just letting everyone know that I am fine, recovering and I will be back in my hotel room tomorrow,” Brian Lara had said.
