The swashbuckling West Indies batsman Chris Gayle has voiced his opinion over the day-night Tests. The big Jamaican believes that day-night Tests will be successful and must be accepted by the players alike.

He spoke in favor of the new experiment with the oldest format of the game and backed the decision by the various boards to play day-night Tests this year. Chris Gayle also cited that the experiment will make the game popular and especially the longest format.

“It’s going to be different for the fans (but) I don’t see any reason why the concept can’t take off and be as successful as the shorter forms of the game,” Gayle told the reporters in Bengaluru. He is currently representing the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL.

Only one day-night Test has been played at the international level so far. Australia hosted New Zealand for the inaugural day-night Test last year. Now many teams are considering playing the day-night Test.

Pakistan is hoping to host the West Indies for a day night Test in the UAE later this year. Pakistan is also scheduled to travel down under and play one day-night match at Adelaide in December this year. Indian cricket board, the BCCI, is also in talks with the New Zealand Cricket (NZC) for a day night Test when the Kiwis tour India later this year.

According to media reports, India is hoping to host a day-night test against Australia next year. The cricket boards of Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are also closely monitoring the movements and the prospect of day-night Tests and are expected to announce their first day-night pink ball Test in the near future.
