After a session of rigorous discussions, debates and arguments over the past month or so, the Pakistan government has finally given the green signal to Lahore for hosting the PSL finals. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Pakistan Super League (PSL) working committee breathed a sigh of relief after having received the news.
Now, the next big hurdle is to convince the overseas players to travel to Pakistan. Different players have their own stance on this. Big-hitting batsman Gayle, much like everyone else, had his opinion on the same too.
In a conversation with Wisden India, the big Jamaican dead batted the question related to his participation in the PSL finals. Chris Gayle is plying his trade for the Karachi Kings in the ongoing edition. The franchise has picked up great momentum, winning three of their last 4 matches. Hence, it will not be a big surprise to see them feature in the finals. In case they reach the finals, Gayle is perhaps unsure about what he will do. For the time being, he took the question on a lighter note and came up with a hilarious reply.
He quoted, “Well, if you take me, I will come with you. Invite me, man. Now you invite me and then you may see me.”

Talking about the performances of the six hitting machine, it has definitely been well below par. Gayle is yet to make an impact in the tournament. He has been one of the biggest attractions in the tournament and it only comes as a disappointment to see him fail match after match.
Citing reasons for the same, he remarked, “(It’s) because of the weather. It’s very cold, didn’t get any sunshine. That’s the reason. I am just kidding. I wasn’t playing much cricket. So (I was) definitely rusty and was travelling and haven’t been practising, so it showed in the middle. But I am a professional and I am not going to find any excuse.”
