Chris Gayle donates $20,000 toward leukemia treatment

Destructive Jamaican opening batsman Chris Gayle has once again stolen the limelight, but this time, for the right reasons. The hard-hitting and muscular West Indies international has taken to Instagram to petition towards a crowd fund to collect funds for the treatment of a student suffering from leukemia.

The student is identified as Lee-Anna Walker is a fifth form student of St. Hughes High School who was diagnosed with Leukemia towards the end of 2015 will be requiring funds for a bone marrow transplant. It has also been reported that the treatment will cost £35,000.

Gayle is not only trying to gather people for this cause, but he also made a massive contribution towards the treatment.

“Well, I actually get to meet Lee-Anna Walker not too long ago in Triple Century and I’m donating USD 20,000 towards her treatment,” Gayle wrote.

Chris Gayle will be rejoining the squad for the ICC World T20 as the Windies look to claim the crown they had given up following the 2012 edition of 2012. Gayle’s absence from the national side has seen him feature in a plethora of domestic T20 leagues around the world. His most notable performance came in the Big Bash League against the Adelaide Strikers when he slammed a swashbuckling 50 off just 12 balls.
