West Indies explosive opener and the self-proclaimed Universe Boss Chris Gayle has put in an effort to make his bond stronger with the city of Bangalore. Gayle has made an investment by picking up minority stake in the city-based augmented reality venture FlippAR. Gayle is likely to be the global face of the brand.
“The West Indian great Chris Gayle has picked up a minority stake in our venture.. Gayle will be endorsing the brand and initiate campaigns across the world,” FlippAR
Founder Vivek Jain told PTI here.
The agreement was signed in the year 2013 with Dinanath Ramnarine, a very close friend of Gayle played a part in getting the deal done.
“Ramnarine was the man who backed Gayle in his standoff with the West Indies Cricket Board. He is one of the most respected cricket administrators in West Indies,” he said.
Ramnarine backed the veteran cricketer on the latter’s rift with WICB, following Gayle’s comment in the media in the year 2011. The administrator said the terms and modalities of the agreement were being worked out.
Move towards Investment
Few months back, Gayle had made an investment in IONA Entertainment to bring one-stop entertainment to Indian sports fans, which includes state-of-the-art virtual gaming.
Gayle takes keen interest in promising projects and has invested in the past. “I have done some investments… I have opened up a Triple Century 333 Sports Bar and a restaurant back in Jamaica… I have also invested in a bit of real estate… Had built my house before IPL, though I have not spent so much time because of travelling around the world,” he said. “I have also bought some shares of some companies and also own a vehicle,” he said after he was signed up as the global brand ambassador of Attitude.com, an alternative fashion apparel brand.
