Chris Gayle reveals the first three names that he would pick in his T20 XI
Gayle even stated that he would still like to feature in two more World Cups for the West Indies.
Chris Gayle is one of the greatest entertainers in the game of cricket, both on and off the field. While his pyrotechnics with the willow and his dancing moves on the field endear him to the masses, off the field it is Gayle’s cool attitude and a relaxed approach to life that makes him a hit with the fans.
Gayle is someone who lives life on his terms. He enjoys every moment of his life, and freely shares his thoughts, without any inhibitions. The ‘Universe Boss’ took part in the famous 25 questions show with ESPN Cricinfo, and opened up on a variety of subjects, including what would be the name of his own franchise if he starts it, and even emphatically stated that he would be the first person to score a double hundred in T20 cricket.
He also revealed that the Chinnaswamy stadium in Bangalore is the one that he loves to hit sixes in, and even stated that he would still like to feature in two more World Cups for the West Indies.
Chris Gayle picks the first three names in his T20 XI
Gayle was also asked as to who would be the first three names that he would pick in his T20 XI. And for that, the West Indian legend picked the names of Nicholas Pooran, Andre Russell, and Rohit Sharma.
And definitely, his first three names are not bad choices. Rohit Sharma is the second-highest run-scorer in T20I cricket and has amassed 2773 runs at an average of 32.62. The ‘Hitman’ is also the only batsman in the history of T20I cricket to have smashed 4 centuries. Rohit also has a colossal record in IPL cricket and has scored 5230 runs at an average of 31.31.
As far as Nicholas Pooran is concerned, the left-hander has played 24 T20I matches for West Indies and scored 361 runs at a strike rate of close to 125(124.91). Pooran has also taken the IPL by storm and has scored 521 runs at an imposing strike rate of 165.4.
Andre Russell is one of the best all-rounders in the world at the moment, at least in T20 cricket. Russell has scored 540 runs in T20Is for his country and scored his runs at a strike rate of 151.26. In the IPL too, Russell has scored 1517 runs at an unreal strike rate of 182.33. He has also taken 61 wickets with the ball in IPL cricket.
Gayle, on the other hand, has a colossal record in T20 cricket. He has scored 1627 runs in T20Is at a strike rate in excess of 140(142.84). And, the batting legend has also piled up 4772 runs in IPL cricket, and has scored them at an average of 41.14, and a strike rate of 150.11. And, even at the age of 41, Gayle still has the enthusiasm and passion to go out and smack the bowlers all-round the park.
