Chris Gayle smacks Shadab Khan for 32 runs including four sixes in an over in GT20 Canada
Chris Gayle smashed a brutal 94 in just 44 balls with 6 fours and 9 sixes in the innings.
The Global T20 Canada league in Canada has been making the right noise with every ongoing match. Especially when you have the king of T20 cricket Chris Gayle playing in a murderous mood. Gayle is the captain of the defending champions Vancouver Knight and has already slammed a century in this season against Montreal Tigers, which was his 21 in the format.
Gayle has a lukewarm ODI World Cup recently for the Windies which was his last such tournament, but he has hinted to keep going on and will feature in the ODI series against India shortly in the Caribbean. In all, he scored 122 unbeaten runs as Knights posted 276/3 in 20 overs. Everyone thought that he had performed his one great knock for this league.
But Gayle wasn’t done it seems as his wrath continued against Edmonton Royals, as Chris Gayle smashed a brutal 94 in just 44 balls with 6 fours and 9 sixes in the innings. One bowler copped the majority of Gayle’s brutal hitting and that was Pakistan’s, Shadab Khan.
Gayle smacks 32 runs in one over
Vancouver Knights were chasing a stiff target of 166 runs and lost opener Visee for one run. But then Gayle, along with contributions from Shoaib Malik (34*), Chadwick Walton and Daniel Sams, took the team to victory in 16.3 overs for the loss of just 4 wickets. This included an over by Shadab Khan, in which he was taken apart by the burly Jamaican, who showed that even at the age of 39, he still has it.
It was the 13th over of the game, bowled by Khan, where Gayle struck four sixes and two boundaries in the over and turned the game on its head. That over helped bring the required run rate down and made things easy for the following batsmen, as Gayle fell to Ben Cutting, caught by Mohammad Nawaz.
Here is the video of Gayle’s assault on Shadab Khan:
Earlier, batting first after losing the toss, Royals lost the first three wickets for single-digit scores until Ben Cutting’s 72, Jimmy Neesham’s 28 and Mohammad Nawaz’s 40 helped the team put on a formidable total, which their bowlers could defend. For the Knights, Ali Khan, Saad bin Zafar and Hayden Walsh picked 2 wickets each to keep the Edmonton team to 165/9 in 20 overs.
