Chris Lynn adjudges Andre Russell as their 'billion dollar man'
This win takes KKR to the second position and now they're only behind SRH.
Kolkata Knight Riders’ Chris Lynn has adjudged their star all-rounder Andre Russell as the “Billion Dollar Man” following an emphatic 5-wicket win over the RCB at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. Russell’s brutal assault on the RCB bowlers ensured that Kolkata chased down 53 off the final 3 overs with 5 balls to spare.
Chasing 206, KKR got off to a good start, registering 59 runs in the Powerplay before unleashing Andre Russell for the final 3 overs, with 53 to get. The match turned on its head when Siraj bowled yet another beamer and had to be taken off the attack, midway in the Over and not to forget, Russell hit that beamer for a six which was the first of many to come.
Russell’s 13-ball 48 was powered by 7 sixes and a four and not to forget, he hammered Tim Southee for a 29-run over.
“We keep putting him (Russell) in tough situations and he keeps lifting his game. He is just too good. 215 was probably par on that wicket.” Lynn opined after the game.
“Both teams gave opportunities. We dropped Kohli and AB de Villiers and RCB also dropped a couple of chances. We had luck on our side. Change of fortune for us. It is unbelievable and entertaining for us. He (Russell) keeps doing it. He is a billion dollar man for KKR.” Lynn concluded.
The RCB fans had plenty to cheer about in the first Innings when Kohli and ABD recreated their ‘magic’ by registering a delightful 108-run stand to take RCB to 205/3. Well constructed Innings’ from Utthapa, Lynn and Rana ensured that KKR stayed in the contest throughout.
This win takes KKR to the second position and now they’re only behind SRH (table-toppers) on NRR. Both RCB and KKR play their next fixtures on Sunday against DC and RR respectively.
