Chris Lynn and Billy Stanlake picked in Australia side for Pakistan series
The new wave of Australian cricket is there for all to see as Chris Lynn and Billy Stanlake has been given the nod to be a part of the Australian cricket team for the upcoming series against the Pakistanis. Both Lynn and Stanlake have been in tremendous form in the Big Bash League in recent times and have certainly justified their selection in the side.
Chris Lynn has been in splendid form with some massive hitting for the Brisbane Heat. He has also been in fine form with three half-centuries to his name thus far. As for 22-year old Billy Stanlake, he has been economical with the ball for the Adelaide Strikers.
However, this comes at the expense of George Bailey and Aaron Finch, both who have been axed following some horrific performances in recent times. Trevor Hohns, the chairman of the selectors went on to justify the axing of both Bailey and Finch.
“George has scored one fifty in his past 10 ODIs and, while his form has not been disastrous, it has not been to his usual standard,” chairman of selectors Trevor Hohns said. “So we have decided to look at younger players in the middle order in this instance.
He also went on to add that Finch’s numbers also do not add up to the required number. He also went on to state that he had spoken to both players and that they understood his perspective on why they had not been selected. “Aaron … has scored four fifties in his last 18 innings. I have spoken to both players and they understand our perspective as selectors.”
Australia’s 14-man ODI squad: David Warner, Usman Khawaja, Steve Smith (capt), Mitch Marsh, Travis Head, Chris Lynn, James Faulkner, Glenn Maxwell, Matthew Wade, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins, Adam Zampa, Billy Stanlake.
