Chris Lynn reacts after being overlooked for India ODIs
The two teams will play three ODIs starting January 12 at the SCG.
Australia on Friday announced their 14-member squad for the three-ODI series against India amidst the fourth Test in Sydney. It saw the return of three veterans, namely, Usman Khawaja, Nathan Lyon and Peter Siddle who all are part of their Test squad. The Aussies left out as many as six players who featured in the side’s last ODI series which it played against South Africa at home last year and lost 1-2. While the biggest surprise was the recall for pacer Siddle who last played an ODI back in 2010 one of the Australian batters who did not find a berth in the ODI squad against India was Chris Lynn.
The hard-hitting Queensland batsman, who has been playing for Australia for the last few series and scored 84 in his last game against Sydney Sixers for Brisbane Heat in the ongoing Big Bash League, was disappointed and he expressed it on Twitter where he posted a GIF of cartoon character Homer Simpson going into the bushes and disappearing.
Lynn has been ordinary
Lynn though did not produce anything magical in the ODIs and one-off T20I against South Africa or in the three T20Is against India at home in November and December, failing to score a single fifty. The dashing batsman definitely has the ability to be handy for any team on his day and can single-handedly rule the outcome with the bat.
The 28-year-old made his international debut in T20Is in 2014 and started playing ODIs in 2017. In 18 T20Is and four ODIs, Lynn has scored 366 runs with identical highest scores of 44 in each format. In 41 first-class games, Lynn averages over 43 and has hit six hundreds with the highest score of 250. He is currently with the Brisbane Heat in the Big Bash League and has scored one fifty – a knock of 89 in the three matches.
Here is Lynn’s reaction:
Led by Aaron Finch, Australia will lock horns with India over three 50-overs games scheduled in Sydney (January 12), Adelaide (January 15) and Melbourne (January 18). The two teams drew their T20I series 1-1 while India were leading the Test series 2-1 and looking favourites to win the four-game series.
