Chris Lynn rues lack of communication after being dropped from Australia T20 team

One of the most destructive batsmen in the T20 format, Chris Lynn has been in and out of the Australia team given the number of times he has been injured and loss of form. However, he is still a feared entity in international cricket for his hitting prowess. His BBL and IPL exploits are evidence of how dangerous he can be when in form and in full flow.

But currently, the right-hander finds himself out of the Australian T20 side for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka and Pakistan which begins from 27th October and 3rd November respectively. He came to know of the fact that he would not be part of the Kangaroos squad via social media, which comes a year before the country is set to host the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2020. He has recently played for Guyana Amazon Warriors squad that put together 11 straight victories in the Caribbean Premier League, only to lose out in the final against Barbados Tridents.

Lynn, who plays for Brisbane Heat in the Big Bash League, vent out his frustration in an interview with the ESPNCricinfo, “The lack of communication hasn’t been great. I kind of saw [being omitted] coming, I’m not disappointed. Through no one’s fault, I haven’t played any cricket, but a phone call wouldn’t hurt. I’m not going anywhere; I will keep trying to score runs and keep knocking on his door. It’s all part of the journey. If you are going to sit at home and be negative, then nothing will happen,” Lynn was quoted as saying.

The dashing opener confirmed that he had not spoken to Cricket Australia chief selector Trevor Hohns to get any explanation as to why he was not picked for the Pakistan series. “I haven’t spoken to him. I find it’s something that’s ongoing and getting worse in Australian cricket – that lack of communication. I’m not just talking about my case. There are plenty of other scenarios where players feel a bit lost on where they stand. It’s disappointing,” Lynn added.

It has to be mentioned here that Lynn has not played for Australia in over a year’s time and though his T20 numbers are terrific, his number for his country in T20Is are ordinary with 291 runs in 18 games with the highest score of 44. Meanwhile, he has 4425 runs in 162 T20 matches with one century at a strike rate of 141.96.
