Chris Lynn to undergo surgery; hopeful of returning in time for BBL
He will miss the proposed Australia tour of India for an ODI series, the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) next month due to his surgery.
Swashbuckling Australian batsman Chris Lynn will miss the start of the Australian summer following his decision to go under the knife to fix his troublesome shoulder. He has been troubled with the injury for quite some time and will miss the start of the home summer for the fourth season in a row.
Lynn, who has a history of shoulder problems, got injured while playing for IPL side Kolkata Knight Riders earlier in 2017. In a game against Mumbai Indians, he landed awkwardly on his shoulder while attempting a catch off Jos Buttler and went off the field. Following the injury, Lynn was sidelined for nine consecutive games before making his comeback against RCB.
However, after managing his shoulder over the years without undergoing surgery, Lynn now has decided to go under the scalpel to fix it permanently. The 27-year-old middle order batsman is scheduled to have his surgery in Melbourne on Monday (July 25th).
Speaking to the Australian daily, The Courier Mail, Lynn said, “I have been battling through each tournament and umming and arr-ing at training but the time has come to get it done. I was getting sorer and sorer after training. I am pretty confident I will be back for the Big Bash. I will cost myself a bit but physically and mentally it will mean a lot to get it done.”
Lynn to miss India series
He will miss the proposed Australia tour of India for an ODI series, the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) next month due to his surgery. However, he is hopeful of making a return in time to play the Big Bash League.
Retained by KKR for $269,000 in 2016, Lynn has gone on to play in different leagues around the world. The dynamic right-hander has amassed almost 1500 domestic T20 runs in Australia. He was also selected in Australia’s 15-man squad for the recent Champions Trophy but didn’t play a game during the tournament.
