The South African team is having a hard time in the limited-overs series against India. The three excoriating experience thus far has put the Proteas on the back foot. They need every bit of optimism to push their limits and put up a match-winning performance against the visitors. Fortunately for the hosts, they have received the much-needed boost when it was confirmed that AB de Villiers will feature in the eleven. The team will be hoping for a collective match-winning performance.

Their bowling all-rounder, Chris Morris revealed South Africa’s plans ahead of the all-important encounter on Saturday (10 February) saying, his team will try regressively with the full mental fortitude to get the ‘big dog’. Here he referred to the skipper of Indian Team Virat Kohli as ‘big dog’. Kohli who is having the time of his life in South Africa has already registered two centuries in the three one-day matches. He has been able to put pressure on the opposition quite beautifully.

Main Dog- Virat Kohli

Morris said, “You always want to get the main dog out in a team. Kohli is the big dog and the guy is scoring runs for them at the moment. 34 ODI hundreds speak for itself. He has got a hundred in every single country he has played in. The guy is in serious form at the moment, and he is in form anywhere he plays in the world.”

The all-rounder applauded Virat’s effort and also termed him a ‘good player’ but even then he believes that Proteas can bowl well and get him out. He said, “He is a good player but we know if we bowl well enough to him we could get him out. We know he is the main guy in the team, and if we can get him out we can put India under pressure.”

AB de Villiers will light up the team

He further went on to say that the comeback of AB de Villiers will light up the teams’ effort on the field and bring calmness in the unit. He said “AB is AB, apart from what he brings on the field it’s what he also brings off it. I don’t think he is feeling any added pressure. He is just going to come in and be AB de Villiers. I think AB de Villiers being AB de Villiers is a very dangerous player.”

“He brings that calmness and experience. To have a world-class player come back into the side is a special occasion,” he concluded.
