Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul received a lot of flak for their misogynist comments on the talk show Koffee with Karan. Ever since then a lot has happened including the two cricketers getting suspended as they were called back mid-way from Australia tour. The inquiry on the matter is still pending as the Supreme Court has set February 5 as the date to appoint the Ombudsman.
However, finally, after a lot of days, Rahul and Pandya have received a delighting news. According to the Times of India, the BCCI CoA has decided to lift the suspensions on the cricketers provisionally until the Supreme Court appoints the Ombudsman next month. This means that the cricketers will be allowed to play and it remains to be seen if they will be included in the India squad with immediate effect for the ongoing New Zealand series.
“The decision has been taken with the concurrence of the Learned Amicus Curiae, Mr. P.S. Narasimha. In view of the above, the suspension orders dated 11.01.2019 is immediately lifted pending appointment and adjudication of the allegations by the BCCI Ombudsman,” BCCI’s statement read.
Pandya in NZ?
Meanwhile, in the further developments on the story, the reports in India Today suggest that Hardik Pandya might join Team India in New Zealand. With Virat Kohli being rested for the last two ODIs and the T20I series as well, the fast bowling all-rounder could be added as his replacement.
On the other hand, KL Rahul could also be in line for comeback. He might play in the ongoing edition of Rnji Trophy for Karnataka. This, however, would depend on the fact if Karnataka makes it to the finals of the season or not. Currently, they are playing the semi-final encounter of the season against team Vidarbha.
