India’s new bowling consultant, Zaheer Khan, who is also an active player in the IPL, would be asked by the CoA to give up his contract with Delhi Daredevils in order to remove the conflict of interest. Rahul Dravid also had the choice to coach the national u-19 team or a franchise in the IPL. CoA will also discuss the fallout of Supreme Court’s hearing on Friday, apart from the conflict of interest of the personnel involved with the Indian team this Sunday.

Ramachandra Guha in his scathing letter mentioned about the loopholes prevalent in BCCI. One of the major concerns for Guha was the conflict of interest plaguing Indian Cricket due to the Superstar Syndrome active in culture. In his letter, he questioned Dhoni’s Grade ‘A’ contract as well as the likes of Rahul Dravid and Sunil Gavaskar for promoting conflict of interest.

“Dravid had to choose between the two (being an India U-19 coach or mentor at Delhi Daredevils). Without confirmation from Zaheer Khan that he will break all links with the IPL team, how can he be appointed with the Indian team? Most of the support staff members have IPL contracts,” questioned an insider close to BCCI according to Hindustan Times.

“If there are going to be 11 people with the team, then the contracts will have to be reconsidered – whether the BCCI can afford to pay so much money? Auditing firm Deloitte had recommended a salary structure to decide the payments of support staff and the COA may ask the BCCI to go by that.Ravi will be accountable for the results, so it will be entirely his call. He will decide on how and when he wants to utilise the services of the consultants,” further added the source. “The timing of the hearing is 2 pm which is a positive. It means the SC is taking a serious look at it. Given the stern message to Anurag Thakur, the body language shows that they mean business,” concluded the source.
