Jos Buttler is in prime form in the ongoing IPL 2022, having registered 499 runs to his name from eight matches including three centuries and two half-centuries. He is also sitting comfortably at the top of the Orange Cap list as the leading run-scorer. The Englishman also scored back-to-back tons against Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals
Meanwhile, Pakistan spin legend Mushtaq Ahmed has come forward and acknowledged Buttler for his courteous behavior. Lately, the England limited-overs specialist had credited Mushtaq for his purple patch in the ongoing edition of the marquee tournament.
It is nice when you work with someone and they remember it: Mushtaq Ahmed
“I worked with England for six years and everyone remembers the technical work we did. It is nice when you work with someone and they remember it, I communicated with Buttler and thanked him too,” Mushtaq was quoted by Cricket Pakistan.
“The coach’s job is to pass on his knowledge and experience to the players, the rest is up to the player. We are also trying to bring this culture to the Pakistani team,” he added.
The former leggie had served as England men’s team’s spin-bowling coach from 2008 to 2014. Apart from that, Ahmed was also the bowling coach of the Surrey County Cricket Club in 2012.
Coming back to Buttler, he eyed a third consecutive century when the Rajasthan Royals took on the Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on April 26. However, all he managed was just eight runs before being sent backby in-form Josh Hazlewood. Nonetheless, Riyan Parag’s 31-ball 56 propelled RR to 144/8, which turned out to be a match-winning total in the end.
After the Royals’ well-deserved 29-run win, Jos Buttler would yet again be charged up to make his bat do the talking when the 2008 winners face the Mumbai Indians at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on April 30.
