Comeback date and IPL future of Yusuf Pathan revealed
The samples provided by Yusuf were found to contain the banned substance called ‘terbuteline’.
Veteran Indian all-rounder Yusuf Pathan recently made the headlines for his alleged breach of anti-doping conduct of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The reports surfaced the media about his suspension imposed by the cricket board. The samples provided by Yusuf were found to contain the banned substance called ‘terbuteline’.
Subsequently, the board banned the Baroda all-rounder for five months. With the news breaking out in the media, some serious ripples were created in the Indian cricket circuit. His fans, needless to cite, were worried. A lot of attention soon went over to the topic of the upcoming auctions of the Indian Premier League. The IPL 2018 Auctions promises to be a bigger affair than the previous editions.
Amidst this backdrop, the news of Yusuf Pathan being handed a five month suspension brought dark clouds over his participation in the most popular T20 league. Well, the senior cricketer was quick to release an official media statement about the entire episode. In his media release statement, Yusuf Pathan disclosed his comeback date. The statement also hinted at the possible IPL future of Yusuf for the upcoming edition.
IPL future disclosed
Much to the relief of all the fans, the BCCI had imposed the suspension on Yusuf back in October 2017. Yusuf Pathan had received the letter from the BCCI on October 27, 2017 stating that he had failed the dope test. And now, he is all set to end his suspension period. The suspension period ends at midnight of January 14, 2018. Hence, Yusuf will be eligible to play again from the suspension end date, i.e. January 14 midnight.
Earlier, many had speculated that Yusuf Pathan was not playing for Baroda in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy since his younger brother Irfan Pathan was not picked up in the squad. But the actual reason is that he did not feature in the tournament because of his suspension. He is now set to play in the tournament after the suspension period end date.
With the suspension ending in the second week of January, there are no concerns over his IPL participation. He will head into the auction pool as one of the biggest attractions. He was associated with the Kolkata Knight Riders franchise in the IPL for a long time.
