The much awaited India-South Africa series is only ten days away, India tour of South Africa starts from 5 January 2018. India was unbeaten in any bilateral series this year. With 37 wins this year, India has jumped to the second place in terms of most wins in a calendar year behind Australia who had 38 wins in a calendar year. India will look to stamp their dominance on overseas tours after having a successful home season.
The 25-Year Wait
The men in blue will be eager to end a 25-year wait in the ‘Rainbow Nation’. India went to South Africa in 1992 for their maiden tour. India was led by Mohammed Azharuddin and South Africa was captained by Kepler Wessels. South Africa won the first Test and managed to draw the second. India has embarked on six South Africa tours after that but has never won a series there.
Virat Kohli and his men will want to make every bit of this opportunity. This is considered to be India’s strongest side, the cricket pundits believe that this side has the potential to surprise the Proteas in their own den. India has had a never-ending problem in away tours, the inability to take twenty wickets in a game hurts them the most. The batsmen often fail to make an impact on quick tracks but this time around things are looking different as India is going to South Africa as the number one test team.
