After the Supreme Court suggested the Committee of Administrators (COA) to frame a new constitution for BCCI, they’ve been working relentlessly. The COA is all set to hold a meeting on August 29 in Mumbai to fine tune the new BCCI Constitution, as per the August 23 directive of the Supreme Court.
BCCI proposed a new constitution a few months ago, but there were some concerns raised regarding few points. Hence, the COA has decided to frame work policies which will respect the by laws of the Lodha Committee recommendations. They might modify the policies on the aspects of the ‘one State, one member, one vote’ issue and the composition of the selection committees.
COA might consider maintaining full membership for Railways
It is also being speculated that the COA is considering to maintain the full membership for Railways, Services and All India Universities. The National Cadet Corps (NCC) and Competition Commission of India (CCI) are willing to make a case for themselves to retain their voting rights after the amendments are made.
The COA has apparently filed an affidavit to the Supreme Court regarding the IPL media rights. They feel that closed bidding is the best way to move forward instead of the E-tendering mechanism. They presume the closed bidding system will help in maximising the revenues of the richest cricket board in the world.
The Game Development (GM) Committee will also be working together to bring reforms in Women’s cricket. The Hindu has reported that the committee will be comprising Ratnakar Shetty, CoA member Diana Eduljee, and players Mithali Raj, Harmanpreet Kaur and Jhulan Goswami will come together in materializing a new frame work in Women’s cricket. This women’s cricket programme will play a crucial role in enhancing the revenues through women’s cricket and will help in increasing the tenures of the cricketers.
