England’s wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler had a tough day behind the wickets for Rajasthan Royals as he failed to grab a couple of opportunities to dismiss Royal Challengers Bangalore’s AB de Villiers. The social media did not miss out the opportunity to troll the English player for his poor show behind the wicket.

Luckily for Buttler, the miss didn’t cost his side much as Royals managed to defend the massive total they had posted, courtesy a terrific Sanju Samson innings. Samson’s 92-run inning which included 10 sixes and a couple of fours meant that the hosts managed to post a 200-plus total.

Poor show from the Englishman

Chasing the total, RCB lost Brendon McCullum in the very first over. However, RCB skipper along with Quinton de Kock put on a superb stand for the second wicket to keep them alive in the run chase. Buttler had given a life when he dropped his RCB counterpart. De Kock’s wicket brought De Villers in the mix.

The duo of Kohli and de Villiers looked bit threatening during their stay. However, Gopal was bowling smartly to both the batters. In the 9th over of the innings, de Villiers went for a massive hoick, only to miss it for Buttler to whip the stumps. But that was not the case as Buttler missed an easy chance to send de Villiers back to the pavilion.

In the next over, Buttler gave another reprieve to the Protea batter as he missed out on a run out opportunity. Buttler failed to collect the ball and fumbled.

Giving a twin opportunity to a player of de Villiers caliber can be suicidal and the social media was quick to remind the same of the England player. Pakistan’s Kamran Akmal who had dropped so dollies while keeping the wicket in his career was remembered the fans as they compared Buttler with him.

Luckily, the miss didn’t cost Royals much as they eventually beat the hosts by 19 runs.
