Competition in the team a positive for the players, says Rohit Sharma
The Test series against Sri Lanka will be Rohit Sharma’s return to the longest format after 9 months.
Classy Indian batsman Rohit Sharma is all set to restart his Test career after a long break from the longer version of the game. The batsman who is filled with cricketing talent says there is a lot of competition in the Indian middle order but it is a positive for the team. According to Rohit, its all healthy competition and encourages every one to give their 100 percent on the field.
When asked about his way of dealing with competetions in the team, Rohit said that one should always have confidence in his own ability and the effort he puts in. That is the one and only way to challenge for a favoured sport, according to the right-hander.
“It’s very simple, the fight for that spot will always be there whichever format you play, and it’s good for the cricket and good for your team when you have that healthy competition around. It makes everyone step up to the challenge all the time, whenever they step on to the field”, said Sharma.
The last Rohit Sharma represented the country in a Test match was back in October 2016 when the team faced New Zealand. After that Rohit fell victim to an injury in his upper thigh forcing him to the sidelines for 8 weeks.

Sharma pointed out that the competition never fades away. The pressure of losing the spot to another worthy competitor is always there and he tries to deal with it in his own way. Sharma avoids thinking about things that are out of his control. He prefers to concentrate on his positives and work on his strengths which helps his edge past the others.
According to Rohit Sharma, its is very important to be successful in the Test format. On the same time, he mentioned that thinking it that way will be compromising on his game and he prefers to stay away for thinking that way.
