Indian pacer Ishant Sharma believes the conditions in the West Indies will be challenging for the fast bowlers. He was speaking ahead of the Test series and said that the warm-up match helped to get used to the conditions.
“I think the conditions are really important, I think they are very challenging here. It is really hot out here so you need to look after yourself properly. And obviously the time difference. When we arrived here we were totally in a different time zone and you need to be mindful with that as well, especially when you are playing four Test matches and two practice games. With this amount of workload you need to manage properly,” said Ishant in an interview to bcci.tv.
Ishant, who was the player of the series in India’s last tour of West Indies said that the conditions have changed. “In my last Test series [in West Indies], I was the Man of the Series. But I think the venue is going to change a lot the way we play.”
“You need to know what is going to work for you; I think you need to keep that in mind, keep the process right and keep working hard,“ said the paceman.

The 27-year old added that coming in the back of a long T20 season is hard to adjust to the Test format quickly. “It will be good for every player to play a practice game. It is important for everybody because you get to know the conditions, you get used to the conditions. We know that everybody was playing T20 cricket, and now straight away you are playing Test cricket which is not easy to come and bowl that [many] amounts of overs,” Ishant concluded.
