In a dramatic turn of events, there is some serious confusion lingering over the meeting scheduled by the BCCI on November 21. The board has made a clear stance on the agenda of the meeting. They have notified the IPL franchises, who will be a part of the meeting to discuss the various propositions of the IPL 2018, about the agenda. A very clear notification has been sent out to the franchises that only the team owners will be a part of the meeting.

This has not gone down well with the teams since they feel that the other members of the team management, team directors, and other high end officials should also be a part of the meeting. There is no hidden secret about the fact that the team owners of the IPL teams rely heavily on the advice of the team management and the support staff.

Even during the IPL auctions, the owners often consult with the management before making any claims. Without any offense against the owners, it is safe to assume that not all owners are well versed with the game of cricket either. Meanwhile, the other problem that the owners are facing at the moment is about the exact reason why the meeting is being conducted.

Much clearer view of things?

The BCCI has notified the owners that the meeting will be about the various aspects of the IPL 2018. However, a much clearer outline is what the teams expected to get from the powerful Indian cricket board. Meanwhile, it is being speculated that the meeting could well be about the returning franchises – Chennai Super Kings and the Royals.

Also, there is all likelihood of the player retention policy to be discussed at the meeting. In addition to these points, the BCCI meeting could also see the owners and the officials narrow down to the salary cap allotment for the teams.
