Consistent Kohli better than others in modern cricket feels Mike Hussey
The former Australia batsman believes that the Indian skipper is the best in the world.
Indian captain Virat Kohli is piling on the runs in the on-going tour of South Africa. The right-hander during the 3rd ODI against the host nation hit his 2nd ton of the series, his 34th in ODI career and guided India after the middle order had crumbled. Later, South Africa failed to read the Indian wrist-spinners during the run chase.
The 29-year-old now averages a whopping 57.34 in the ODI cricket. Apart from the one-dayers, Indian skipper averages over 50 in Tests as well as T20 Internationals. With his brilliant performances, the Delhi-born cricketer is often compared with other cricketers who have been performing exceptionally well. Likes of Steve Smith, Joe Root, Kane Williamson and David Warner have been performing consistently good across the formats.
Kohli doing better than ‘Pretty Good’
Former Australia batsman Mike Hussey has joined the debate now and has regarded Kohli as the best cricketer among the current generation. Hussey was in Switzerland to participate in the Ice cricket tournament where he exclusively spoke to Sports Tak. On the comparison being drawn between Smith, Root, Warner, Mike Hussey was of opinion that Kohli was doing better than the rest. “I think he’s doing better than pretty good. He is doing exceptionally well, he’s one of the great players for sure,” he told Sports Tak.
Mike Hussey lauded the consistency of Kohli across the formats. He said that it is very difficult to pick one among all of them but Kohli is probably the best. “It’s very difficult to rate who is the best among Kohli, David Warner, and Steve Smith. On their day, they are all as good as each other but Kohli is probably is the best. His consistency in all forms of the game is phenomenal,” said the left-hander.
Indian captain ranks number 1 in the ODI cricket while in the Tests, he is behind Australia skipper Steve Smith who had a sensational Ashes series. However, Smith struggled during the one-dayers against England during their 4-1 series loss.
