'Couldn’t have been more plumb' - Megan Schutt on Chris Gayle's wicket vs CSK
While the viewers were expecting classic Gayle innings, the spinner Imran Tahir crashed all the hopes with a flatter delivery.
In the 53rd match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2020), the three-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are playing their last game of the IPL 2020 campaign against Kings XI Punjab at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Though this is only a dead rubber for the MS Dhoni-led side, a lot is riding on for KL Rahul and his men.
The Yellow Army have won the last two games on the trot and have essayed the role of a spoilsport for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Punjab, on the other hand, must win this game to ensure that their hopes of making it to the playoffs are alive. Their loss against Rajasthan Royals (RR) has put their campaign in jeopardy.
Winning the toss, MS Dhoni sent KXIP to bat first. For the final league game, CSK has made three changes to their line-up. While Faf du Plessis, Imran Tahir and Shardul Thakur were included, Mitchell Santner, Karn Sharma, and Shane Watson have missed out. KXIP also made two changes as Arshdeep Singh and Glenn Maxwell missed out while Mayank Agarwal and James Neesham grabbed a spot in the playing XI.
Lungi Ngidi provides much-needed breakthrough to CSK
In this must-win game, the KXIP batters have let the team down and they are heading towards a below-par total. The franchise had a good start with 44 runs in 5 overs but Lungi Ngidi bowled a perfect length ball to dismiss Mayank and give CSK their first breakthrough.
KXIP soon received another hiccup in the form of skipper Rahul, whose stumps were also uprooted by Ngidi. This was followed by another wicket of Nicholas Pooran by Shardul Thakur. Thus, the team was reeling at 68 for 3 in 10.4 overs. However, there was still some hope left for Punjab owing to the presence of Universe Boss, Chris Gayle on the field.
While the viewers were expecting classic Gayle innings, the spinner Imran Tahir crashed all the hopes with a flatter delivery. Gayle missed reading the ball to be adjudged lbw. Though he decided to review the decision, it didn’t reap fruitful results. KXIP ended at 153 runs in 20 overs.
Seeing the dismissal of Universe Boss, the Australian women cricketer Megan Schutt took to her official Twitter handle to write, “Couldn’t have been more plumb. What a review #CSKvKXIP #Dream11IPL”
