Shiv Thakor, the former captain of England U-19 team, has been found guilty of exposing himself in front of two women. He is a professional cricketer who plays for the County side, Derbyshire. Thakor was arrested in July after he was charged with two offences against him in Mackworth, Derby, on June 12 and June 19. However, he was also suspended by Derbyshire on full pay when the allegations were made public.

Thakor is Leicester born cricketer who moved to Derby in the latter stages of his life to play cricket. The incident has now put the future of his career in doubt and he hasn’t played any competitive June this year after being suspended by his County side.

He knew what he was doing

Shiv Thakor was found guilty of such an indecent exposure on Wednesday by Southern Derbyshire Magistrates Court. Earlier, Thakor had said in a police statement that he was already sexually satisfied by his 16-year-old girlfriend and he would not commit such offence ever. He had denied strongly of exposing himself at the previous hearing in the same court. But one of the victims labelled him as ‘Shifty Shiv’ after he exposed himself through a ‘gap’ in his jagging bottoms.

“I bent down to get some paper from the printer. I just put my head down and carried on with my work. He knew exactly what he was doing,” the first witness told the Court and also added that he was very quiet and well-mannered. “He had jogging bottoms on and he was jogging past. He had his back to me – I thought he was trying to get himself aroused. I thought in a minute he would go away,” the second witness said adding that she was 100% certain he was exposing himself.

Though, during his evidence, Thakor defended himself and said, “I have got a tendency, that is almost a running joke, that I tend to rearrange myself both at the front and back during games.” However, the District Judge was satisfied with the comments of the two witnesses and found him guilty of the offence. “I’m in absolutely no doubt that both women have given honest evidence to this court. I am satisfied beyond reasonable doubt that you have committed both of these offences,” he said.
