Courtney Walsh expects India tour to be part of the 'experience'

Courtney Walsh, the West Indies bowling legend, as well as incumbent Bangladesh bowling coach, has stated that the Bangladesh cricket team’s bowling unit does not have the kind of infrastructure to topple the top sides. However, despite this criticism, the fact of the matter is that they can certainly put this down to the experience as well.

“We have to look at them as a unit and not get worried too much about the reputations. Obviously, Kohli is a world-class player and there are quite a few in this Indian team,” he remarked.

“If we play good cricket over five days, then the Test will be interesting. It is apparent that it is going to be a real challenge for our team. But we are up for that and it was good to have this practice game before the Test match,” he said.

Walsh went on to add that the team had nothing to lose, but everything to gain. “We have nothing to lose but everything to play for against India. It is going to be a huge challenge,” he insisted. “I am pretty impressed with the Bangladesh pacers especially the way they have been taking the workload of late.

He went on to add that what his bowling unit lacks is clearly the experience but also went on to add that the conditions would be impressive. “What we lack is clearly experience. The more you play, the better will be any cricketer. I just hope they play more and more Test matches,” he pointed out.

“The conditions here are definitely going to be different compared to New Zealand (where Bangladesh lost the two-Test series before coming over here), but more or less similar to back home. Maybe the surface will be different here. Yes, a lot depends on what kind of pitch they would be preparing for this Test match,” Walsh explained.
