Match 7 of the Caribbean Premier League saw Trinbago knight Riders battle it out with the Jamaica Tallawahs. The match marked the Dwayne Bravo led Trinbago side’s first loss of the season. The Knight Riders were on a roll in the 5th edition of the T20 tournament by winning their first two matches but unfortunately, could not cross the Jamaican hurdle. Batting first, the team scored a comparatively low total of 147 runs as they got bundled out with a ball to spare.

New Zealand power hitter Colin Munro top scored for the side with 41 runs to his name while Darren Bravo played a useful knock of 33. Sunil Narine got off to a flyer after opening the inning but could not make it big. He scored a quickfire 23 runs from just 11 deliveries which had two maximums in it. Big names like Brendon McCullum and the skipper himself failed to make effective contributions with the willow. Kesrick Williams and Odean Smith were instrumental with the ball for the Jamaica Tallawahs as they bagged 3 wickets each in the process.

Jamaica Tallawahs’ innings:

Coming on to chase the target Kumar Sangakkara led from the front as he decided to open the innings with Lendl Simmons. It was a successful move as the duo gave the team a fantastic start first up. Sangakkara missed his 50 by just 3 runs as he fell for 47 to a Dwayne Bravo delivery. Simmons lost his wicket at 38 runs after playing a destructive cameo. His 38 runs came off just 18 deliveries which involved 4 boundaries and 3 over boundaries. Nobody after that scored big but chipped in with valuable contributions which saw the team crawl past their target in the last over. However, it was a close encounter as only 4 balls were left to be bowled.

Sunil Narine and Kevon Cooper picked up 2 wickets each but the former was the more economical of the two as he conceded just 21 runs in his 4 designated overs. Kesrick Willams was declared the Man of the Match for his outstanding spell with the ball.
