CPL 2018: Sohail Tanvir to play third consecutive season for Guyana
The left-arm pacer recently played for the Multan Sultans in the third edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
The seventh edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) will be staged in the month of August. The Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) won the erstwhile edition, beating St Kitts & Nevis Patriots in the Final. Earlier this year, the draft of the tournament has been conducted in London where several players were retained and drafted in by their respective franchises.
Pakistani players have been a massive contributor to the tournament and had 53 players who participated in the draft. However, only seven of them found a place in the franchises. Sohail Tanvir has played for the Guyana Amazon Warriors for the last couple of seasons and has dished out impressive performances. As per reports in Geo.tv, he has been retained for the second occasion by the team.
“Good communication and relationships”- Sohail Tanvir
He was bagged for $160,000 in the 2016 draft of the event. “I played the last two seasons with them and enjoyed my time. We have got good communication and good relationships with the management and the owner. We don’t have big names in the team — even last year we didn’t have big names — but the reason we do well is that we gel very well and play as a team.” Tanvir said to the media.
Tanvir also highlighted the reasons why the franchise has struggled in the league as the event has progressed. “My feeling is maybe we panic when it comes to crucial stages. Yes, we don’t have big names but we play as a team. But on the other hand, with lack of experience, that’s what happens sometimes. Players get under pressure”, the Rawalpindi-born cricketer added.
Sohail Tanvir hasn’t played for Pakistan for quite a while now. He last represented the national team during Pakistan’s tour of the Windies back in April last year. The left-arm pacer recently played for the Multan Sultans in the third edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) where he managed only seven wickets in 10 matches.
