CPL 2019: Trinbago Knight Riders sign Kieron Pollard for upcoming season

Kieron Pollard is all set to start another new chapter in his illustrious T20 career. One of the best T20 allrounders in the world for quite some time now, Pollard will represent Trinbago Knight Riders in the upcoming season of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). This will be the first time, the allrounder will be playing for his home-based outfit. Previously, he played for Barbados Tridents for five seasons before turning out for St Lucia Stars in the last edition. He will be the marquee player for Trinbago Knight Riders this season.
Pollard is one of the most experienced T20 players in the world at the moment. In fact, he has played more T20 matches than any other individual on the planet. The right-handed batsman has so far played 474 matches — 59 of them internationals and the rest in leagues around the world. He has scored 9,275 runs in addition to picking up 261 wickets his medium pace. He is currently in India, playing for Mumbai Indians in the ongoing Indian Premier League. Mumbai Indians are already in the final of the competition as Pollard will be eyeing a perfect end to his sojourn in India.
Trinbago Knight Riders, meanwhile, will be looking to continue their dominance in the CPL after Pollard’s arrival. The Trinidad-based outfit are the most successful team in the history of the CPL. In the first six season of the competition, they have won three. Pollard, on the other hand, also knows what it takes to win the tournament, having led the Tridents to the title in 2014.

Trinbago Knight Riders team director Venky Mysore welcomes Kieron Pollard in the team. He said he is excited to see the reaction of the fans when they see their local superstar turning up for their team this year.
“We are delighted to welcome Pollard back home and it is great to continue our efforts to bring as many Trini boys home as possible. I can’t wait for the reaction of the fans when Pollard takes the field at our opening game on 4 September,” said Mysore.
