On September 4th, the Guyana Amazon Warriors locked horns with the Barbados Tridents at the Brian Lara Cricket Stadium in Trinidad in the 26th match of the 2020 edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL 2020). The Guyana Amazon Warriors had an amazing tournament so far as they have won 6 of the total 10 league encounters and are located at the second spot in the table.
The hunt was for Barbados Tridents as they still had some last hopes left to turn it around before the doors closed upon them but the Amazon Warriors clinched the match by 6 wickets which resulted in Tridents getting out of the semi-final race.
A highlight of the match was the celebration done by Warriors’ Kevin Sinclair after taking the wicket of Mitchell Santner who was playing at 18 off 27 deliveries. Nowadays, the bowlers have been coming up with their unique and trademark wicket celebrations– some of which are rather dangerous.
Santner missed the ball by Kevin which directly hit the stumps and resulted in the former going back to the pavilion. Being happy with his effort Kevin decided to celebrate his wicket with his trademark somersault but this time he raised the difficulty level by trying to perform a triple somersault. Looking at the action, all the commentators including Romario Shepherd who was standing a few feet away from Kevin were astonished. The on-air commentator also deemed it as “dangerous”. The official twitter handle of the Caribbean Premier League also shared the clip of this unique celebration by Kevin.
They tweeted, “Double?? Treble?? Definitely Double Trouble in the Bubble!! What a celebration! #CPL20 #CricketPLayedLouder”.
