CPL 2021: Two positive Covid-19 cases identified, 255-member contingent enters the bio bubble

The 9th edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) will get underway from 26th August 2021 at St.Kitts and Nevis. And, most of the players and support staff have already arrived in St. Kitts and Nevis ahead of the marquee tournament.
A total of 255 people have set foot in St. Nevis and Kitts, and upon arrival, all of them underwent a thorough Covid-19 testing process, out of which two people were found to be positive. Immediately, a contact testing process was initiated, but no other Covid-19 case has been detected.
Also, the two people who have tested positive for Covid-19 are currently in isolation according to the procedure and protocols in place for the tournament.

Also, the Tournament Operations Director of the 2021 edition of the CPL, Michael Hall stated that the two positive Covid-19 cases were identified swiftly upon arrival, and the tournament bubble continues to remain intact. Stating that there was no wider exposure, Hall concluded by adding that the CPL committee is looking forward to witnessing cricketing action from 26th August 2021.
“The two positive cases were identified quickly following on arrival testing and were flagged with CPL 2021 while in room quarantine was still taking place for those individuals. The tournament bubble remains intact and there has been no exposure to the wider public in the Federation. We are looking forward to getting the cricket underway on August 26,” said Hall.
The 2021 edition of the CPL will begin on 26th August 2021 and will conclude on 15th September 2021. There will be no crowds allowed for the tournament, and all the matches of the tournament will take place in Warner Park in St.Kitts.
Currently, the defending champions of the tournament are the Trinbago Knight Riders side. The Knight Riders outfit thrashed the St.Lucia Zouks by 8 wickets in the summit clash of the 2020 edition of the tournament to clinch the title.
The Trinbago Knight Riders have won the CPL most number of times. They are four-time CPL champions. Barbados Royals and Jamaica Tallawahs have won the tournament twice each.
