1. Prabath Jayasuriya vs Australia at Galle
After losing to Australia in the first Test of the home series, Sri Lanka had to deliver an extraordinary performance in the second Test. However, the hosts succeeded in that with the help of their debutant cricketer Parabath Jayasuriya. In the crucial contest at Galle, luck favoured the Aussie captain Pat Cummins and he decided to bat first.
With Steve Smith’s unbeatable 145 and Marnus Labuschagne’s spunky 104, Australia posted 364 on the board. Another side, the left-arm spinner showcased his skills by registering figures of 6/118. In his historical spell, he removed some renowned batters such as Labuschagne, Travis Head, and Alex Carey.
In reply, Sri Lanka batters came hard on the Aussie bowlers and took a 190-run lead scoring 554 runs. In the second innings, the 31-year-old looked more ferocious with the ball and contributed to team to close the Aussie innings on 151 runs. Grabbing 6/59 figures, he helped his team register a comprehensive victory over the visitors by an innings and 39 runs. At the end of the match, he also received the Player of the Match award for his mind-boggling bowling numbers.
