Virat Kohli has regained his old touch back in the recent times and a lot will be expected from him in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022. His dip in form in the last two years was a huge talking point, however, he managed to answer his critics with a strong performance in the recent Asia Cup 2022 and ended up as the top run-scorer for India.

He did not stop there and played some delightful innings in the T20Is against Australia and South Africa at home. The 33-year-old will go into the ICC event with immense confidence and the opponents will have their task cut out against him. The right-hander has always cherished breaking records in international cricket and he will have a number of opportunities to do so in the upcoming mega event in Australia.

India’s opening encounter will be against Pakistan on October 23 in the Super 12 stages and one of the battles to watch out will be between Kohli and Shaheen Afridi. Apart from that, Kohli will also fancy breaking some of the T20I records in the process and restore his supremacy in the world. With all those said, let us look at 3 Records Virat Kohli can break in T20 World Cup 2022.

1. Highest run scorer in T20Is

Kohli is currently in the second spot for most runs scored in T20 internationals overall by batters with 3712 runs in 109 games. Despite making his debut only in 2010, Kohli has been far more consistent than most batters in the world, and he has slowly crept up to the second position now.

Only the current Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma is above him in the race with 3737 runs in 142 matches. With the difference of just 25 runs between the two batters, Kohli will have the chance to move to the top of the list in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022.

Kohli is followed by Martin Guptill at the third position with 3497 runs in 121 matches and the New Zealander is part of the T20 World Cup squad. However, going by the consistency rate of Kohli, the match-winner is expected to overtake anyone on his way.
