3 Players who got lucky to be in India's squad for T20 World Cup
BCCI has announced India's 15-member squad for T20 WC 2022.
3. Axar Patel
Axar Patel is considered as a direct replacement of Ravindra Jadeja, who’s ruled out of the T20 World Cup after a knee injury. Patel was in the scheme of things but was never in the plan to feature in the global tournament. With Jadeja’s injury, Patel would be lucky to see himself in the squad.
The all rounder has played 26 T20Is for India in the past and picked up 21 wickets in the process. He’s a decent batter as well but his best is yet to come in the international tournament. Thus, Axar Patel needs to come off the shelf and play some good cricket to challenge Jadeja in the days to come.
Now, Axar’s selection is in the radar because many believe that the team should have gone with an extra seamer all rounder. Shardul Thakur could have been a potential choice but again, he hasn't done anything extraordinary to get a call up. The surprising bit is that the 28-year-old didn't even feature in the Asia Cup. Thus, Axar as a third spinner for a tournament in Australia should consider himself lucky.
