IND vs AUS: 3 Changes India can make for 2nd T20I
Australia defeated India by four wickets in the first game of the three-match T20I series on September 20.
2. Dinesh Karthik batting ahead of Axar Patel
In the last match, India sent in Axar Patel ahead of Dinesh Karthik at number six which did not pay any dividends. The southpaw was not able to make much impact with the bat, scoring six runs off five balls. The wicketkeeper-batter failed to impress as well in his short stay at the crease.
Karthik is drafted into the batting lineup as a designated finisher and has batting prowess superior to Axar’s. The 37-year-old has been in a rich vein of form of late and proven his finishing skills in the T20 circuit. The bowling all-rounder, on the other hand, is more of a lower-order batter who plays handy cameos for the side.
The Indian team management could have slotted in the Tamil Nadu batter after losing their fourth wicket in the 14th over and the wicketkeeper-batter could have unleashed in the final few overs after settling in. The Indian camp seems to have missed a trick in the last game and could swap Karthik and Axar’s batting positions in the do-or-die clash on Friday, September 23.
