3. Ravichandran Ashwin for Yuzvendra Chahal
Yuzvendra Chahal has been India’s premier spinner in the shortest format and is tasked with providing breakthroughs in the middle phases of the innings. However, the 32-year-old has been far from his best of late.
In Australia’s game, Chahal was taken to the cleaners by the Australian batters and conceded 42 runs in 3.2 overs. In the recently culminated Asia Cup as well, the Haryana-born bowler was not able to make a significant impact apart from in the game against Sri Lanka. Ravichandran Ashwin could be drafted in the side in place of the out-of-form leg-spinner for the second T20I.
Ashwin has been quite impressive since he made his comeback to the Indian T20I setup. He has taken five wickets in his last five T20I matches and has kept the run rate in check. The veteran player turns the ball in the opposite direction to Axar and the spin-duo will complement each other well. Also, the 36-year-old is more than useful with the bat and increases the batting depth.
