5. KL Rahul stripped of leadership role

Another big change that was seen in the Indian squad was KL Rahul being stripped as India's ODI vice-captain. The leadership role of the wicketkeeper-batter, who led India against Zimbabwe in ODIs and Bangladesh in Tests in the absence of Rohit Sharma this year, has been taken away for the Sri Lanka ODIs.

The ODI squad now has a new vice-captain in the form of Hardik Pandya. KL Rahul, who is a part of the ODI squad, was not considered for the role as the all-rounder was handed the role, alongside the responsibility of leading the T20I squad. Rahul missed out on India games due to his injury during the Summer, but returned during the Zimbabwe series and led the team to a victory.

But the 30-year-old has failed to put up a worthy performance, be it any format of the game. The management continues to back him even after a string of poor performances, but the wicketkeeper-batter has not been considered for any leadership role for the home series.
