India (IND) and England (ENG) are all set to play the last and final Test in the ongoing Test series by facing off each other at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala. England will look to play for pride, as the series is already won by the hosts, having taken a 3-1 lead with the dominating victory in Ranchi, led by terrific performances by Shubman Gill and Dhruv Jurel.
England managed to register a win in the first Test in Hyderabad after a sensational performance by star batter Ollie Pope. After losing the first Test, Rohit Sharma-led India heavily improved in the second clash in Vizag and managed to level the series. The third Test showcased the depth of India's cricketing prowess as the hosts dominated England with a huge 434-run victory. In the fourth Test at Ranchi, India once again showcased their dominance at home by clinching a five-wicket victory, with youngsters rising to the occasion.
As the fifth Test approaches, it would be interesting to see if England would look to end the series on a high or if India continues their strong momentum in the series.
Here’s India's predicted playing XI for the 4th Test vs England, 1 change is likely:
Openers: Rohit Sharma (c), Yashasvi Jaiswal
The Indian team will be expected to open with skipper Rohit Sharma. A veteran in the field, and with 657 runs in his last ten innings, Rohit’s form could be key for the hosts in the upcoming clash. Despite being shaky at times, the Indian skipper will look to put in a good performance in Ranchi.
Star youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal has been on fire as of late. With 861 runs in his last seven games, Jaiswal is one of the most in-form batters in the side, and his form will be crucial to India gaining the lead in the Test series. With a double century in the second Test as well as third Test Jaiswal could once again dominate with the bat.
Middle Order: Shubman Gill, Sarfaraz Khan, Rajat Patidar, Dhruv Jurel (wk)
After openers, the middle-order will be relied heavily upon for adding crucial runs to the Indian scorecard. And star batter Shubman Gill will play a big part in making that possible. Overcoming his bad form, Gill has finally made an applaudable comeback, which must have given the no. 3 batter a lot of confidence.
Moving on, Sarfaraz Khan is among many who made their debuts in this series. After a much-deserved opportunity in the XI, the Mumbai batter ensured he utilized the chance to optimum potential. Playing his third Test, the young batter would look to cement his spot in the team with yet another solid batting performance.
Rajat Patidar, another debutant from the series, has had a poor outing in the series so far, with his highest score being 32 in Vizag. If the management reaps faith in the Indore-born for another game, he would be desperate to get some runs under his belt, which benefit him as well as the team.
Dhruv Jurel has impressed all with his sensational wicketkeeping skills in the Test so far. He also shined with the bat as he made 46 in the first innings of the third Test. India will look to go with the proven batting line up and give Jurel a spot for the upcoming Test match in Ranchi.
All-rounders - Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin
Ravindra Jadeja overcame injury to take part in the third and fourth Test and came back with a strong performance. Additionally, he has picked 17 wickets in the three Test matches played in the series. He would certainly retain his place for the fifth Test.
Veteran all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin is all set to play his 100th Test, and it will be the iconic Dharamsala stadium that will host the veteran for his landmark game. Coming on the back of six wickets in Ranchi, Ashwin’s performance could be crucial to the Indian team winning the clash.
Bowlers - Kuldeep Yadav, Akash Deep, Jasprit Bumrah
The Indian bowling attack could consist of one spinner and two pacers. Star spinner Kuldeep Yadav will look to make the most of the pitch in Dharamsala, and with four wickets in the fourth Test, Kuldeep looked to be in good form and will look to perform to the peak of his abilities.
Akash Deep who made his debut in the last Test impressed everyone with an impressive maiden outing. Deep bowled an exceptional spell in the first innings of the Ranchi Test, and placed the hosts in a good position early in the innings.
Jasprit Bumrah who was rested for the fourth Test to manage workload will return in place of Mohammed Siraj. The Ahmedabad-born is India's premier bowler and in the first three games of the series, the speedster has already picked up 17 wickets.
India predicted playing 11 for 5th Test vs England:
Rohit Sharma (c), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Rajat Patidar, Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel (wk), Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Kuldeep Yadav, Akash Deep, Jasprit Bumrah
